When a stump has to go.
How stump removal goes.
-
Look and mark
We check the size and the access, and mark anything buried nearby: utility lines, irrigation, invisible dog fence. PA 811 is called before we dig.
-
Dig it out
The stump and its main roots come out of the ground, so there is nothing left to rot or sprout. Rather have it ground? We can grind it below the surface instead.
-
Fill and haul
The hole is filled and packed with soil, and the stump and roots are hauled away.
-
Ready for seed
Topsoil and seed on the spot if you want the lawn back, or leave it ready for your own planting.
Below the ground means 811 first.
-
PA 811 before we dig Pennsylvania law requires a One Call notice before digging or disturbing the ground with powered equipment. We place it before any digging so buried lines are marked.
-
Clear zone We keep people, pets and cars back from the work area while the machine runs.
-
Crews in full PPE ANSI Z133 tree care safety practices and OSHA guidelines on every job.
-
Fully insured Certificate of insurance on request.

Why removal instead of grinding?
Removal takes out the stump and the main roots, so nothing is left to rot, settle or sprout, and you can build or plant right over the spot. Grinding leaves the roots in the ground. We can still grind if you prefer.
What happens to the hole?
We fill it with soil and pack it. Topsoil and seed on top if you want the lawn back.
Can you remove stumps another company left?
Yes. Old stumps, new stumps and stumps from someone else's removal are all the same job for us.
Will the roots keep growing?
Not once the stump and main roots are out. Some trees, like tree-of-heaven and black locust, can send up a few shoots from leftover roots for a season; we cut them back. We do not apply pesticides.
Do I need to be home?
Usually not, as long as we can reach the stumps and gates are unlocked. We confirm access before the day.
Is stump removal included with tree removal?
It is listed as its own line on your written price so you can choose.
Taking the tree down first?
Tell us about the stumps.
Send the form or call the shop. Tell us how many stumps, roughly how wide, and what is near them. Photos help. We call back with a price.
