Grapple truck on an excavator boom beside a bucket truck taking down a sycamore
Grapple truck tree removal

Hold it. Lift it. Load it.

The grapple truck holds each section while the crew cuts it, then lifts it out over the house, fence and garden and loads it on the truck. Nothing is dragged across the lawn.

When you need it

When the grapple truck is the right machine.

Grapple truck holding a section of a sycamore

Dead and brittle trees

Dead ash and storm-damaged trees break unpredictably. The grapple holds each piece before it is cut, so nothing swings or drops.

Chip truck, chipper and bucket truck with cones on a rural road

Roadsides and lot edges

Trees along roads, lanes and field edges come down fast, with cones out and traffic kept moving.

Cut logs stacked beside the woods

Several trees in one day

Lots and lines of trees where speed matters, like clearing a building site or a fence row.

How we do it

How a grapple truck job goes.

  1. Bucket truck on a roadside job
    01

    Plan the reach

We check where the machine can set up, how far it has to reach and where the wood goes.

  2. Grapple truck gripping a trunk section
    02

    Grip, then cut

The grapple closes on the section first, then the crew cuts it, so the piece never falls free.

  3. Logs set down and stacked
    03

Set it down where it belongs

Sections go straight to the chipper, the truck or a stack, not across the lawn.

  4. Chipper and cut logs on a driveway
    04

    Chip and clean up

Brush chipped, wood hauled or stacked, site raked out.

Questions

Grapple truck questions.

How is a grapple truck different from a crane?

A crane lifts big sections from a distance, over a house or into a tight backyard. The grapple truck works closer in: it holds each piece while the crew cuts, then lifts and loads it. We pick the machine that fits the tree and the site.

Is it safer?

Every piece is held before it is cut, so nothing swings or drops onto the yard, and the wood goes straight onto the truck. It still takes a plan and a trained operator.

Can it reach my backyard?

It depends on where the machine can set up and how far the tree is. We tell you on the walk-through.

Is it faster?

Often, especially with several trees, because the wood is loaded as it comes down instead of dragged out by hand. Faster work usually means a better price.

Can you prune with it?

No. The grapple truck is a removal and loading tool. Pruning is done by hand from a climber or the bucket.
