Grapple saw tree removal

Grab it. Cut it. Set it down.

A grapple saw grips each section of the tree, cuts it and sets it down, run from the ground. No climber has to go up a dead or dangerous tree.

When you need it

When the grapple saw is the right machine.

Grapple saw holding a section of a sycamore

Dead and brittle trees

Dead ash and storm-damaged trees can be unsafe to climb. The grapple holds each piece before it is cut.

Chip truck, chipper and bucket truck with cones on a rural road

Roadsides and lot edges

Trees along roads, lanes and field edges come down fast, with cones out and traffic kept moving.

Cut logs stacked beside the woods

Several trees in one day

Lots and lines of trees where speed matters, like clearing a building site or a fence row.

How we do it

How a grapple saw job goes.

  1. [PROJECT PHOTO: grapple saw set up on site]
    01

    Plan the reach

We check where the machine can set up, how far it has to reach and where the wood goes. [CONFIRM: machine reach and lift capacity]

  2. Grapple saw gripping a trunk section
    02

    Grip, then cut

The grapple closes on the section first, then the saw cuts, so the piece never falls free.

  3. Logs set down and stacked
    03

Set it down where it belongs

Sections go straight to the chipper, the truck or a stack, not across the lawn.

  4. Chipper and cut logs on a driveway
    04

    Chip and clean up

Brush chipped, wood hauled or stacked, site raked out.

Safety and insurance

Fewer people in harm's way.

  • No climber on a bad tree The operator works from the ground, away from the cut.
  • Lift planned first Reach, section size and set-down area are planned before the first cut, the way the tree care industry recommends for grapple saw work.
  • Trained operator [OPERATOR TRAINING: CONFIRM]
  • Crews in full PPE Helmets, eye and ear protection, chaps and harnesses, following the ANSI Z133 safety standard for tree work. [CONFIRM]
  • Fully insured Certificate of insurance on request. [Insurance details]

How is a grapple saw different from a crane?

A crane lifts sections a crew has rigged and cut. A grapple saw grips and cuts the section itself, run from the ground. We pick the machine that fits the tree and the site.

Is it safer?

For dead and damaged trees, yes: nobody has to climb a tree that might not hold them, and every piece is held before it is cut. It still takes a plan and a trained operator.

Can it reach my backyard?

It depends on where the machine can set up and how far the tree is. [CONFIRM: reach] We tell you on the walk-through.

Is it faster?

Often, especially for several trees or dead trees that would be slow to climb. Faster work usually means a better price.

Can you prune with it?

No. A grapple saw is a removal tool. Pruning is done by hand from a climber or the bucket.
